“PRESS FORWARD”
Believing in Christ was not an easy decision because I had to choose to believe in someone that I didn’t see but it was the best decision that I have ever made in my life. Many of us come to God through suffering from consequences of our past and some come to God because they were tired of living without hope or living with fear of eternal destruction but whatever brought you to God, we were advised to “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, [and] I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called” us Philip3:13-14. “Forgetting what is behind” is where it gets difficult. It’s not easy forgetting the past because the past is part of what made us who we are today. At the same time the past also carries its sting. Learning to get what we need from our past and leave the junk behind is a work of art but learning to live life free is an even bigger art. We have to choose to forgive and forget the tragedies that happened and learn to live free of offences. Some might say this is too difficult but I tell you truth, it’s worth it. Jesus promises those “Who overcome I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne”Rev3:21. Knowing that we have a promise to sit with Christ and His Father forever makes it worth forgiving ourselves, those who offended us, and press forward. As Apostle Paul said we “Have not already obtained all this [Promise], or have already arrived at my [our] goal, but I [we] press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me [us] Philip3:12. What was Paul saying when he said, “Brothers and sister consider this” the prize is “TOO BIG” not to fight. You must fight your greatest enemy which is “Yourself” to grab hold of this prize which is “To sit with Christ on His throne forever” forgives whoever you have to forgive, cry all the tears that you want to cry, just make sure you move forward with Christ. Examine yourself to make sure you are “Forgetting what is behind”. We cannot afford not to “Press toward the [this] goal”. God did not disagree that it’s difficult but He said “Press” forward anyway. Shake off yesterday and move forward with Him (God) today.
